Torrington Church Of Christ

This is the first blog from the Greater Torrington Church of Christ Evangelist Don Roarabaugh. It is my prayer that this effort will be for the greater glory of God in Northeastern Connecticut.
People often ask what religious denomination we belong to. I wonder if it is enough for us to be known simply as “Christians”…those belonging to Jesus Christ. In this world today, there is so much division in religion and many other areas. We need to learn how to disagree with each other without becoming disagreeable. Hence, my question. Can’t we be happy with the simple label of “Christians”. Not all those other names that divide us, just christians. There is a real unity found in Jesus. When we divide ourselves along denominational lines, we are reminded that a “house divided against itself cannot stand”. When we fight and disagree religiously, only Satan benefits. Jesus told us to “Love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one other.” If you have a problem wearing a denominational label like Lutheran, Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist or any of those other names that confuse the world around us, Maybe it’s time you were “just a christian” and got busy doing the work that we are all to be doing. You know …making disciples, baptizing, teachin in Jesus name. That sort of thing instead of fighting among ourselves. Maybe it’s time you saw how a church is supposed to be. Loving and caring for each other, bearing one anothers burdens. Come and visit. See what I mean. I welcome your comments. Any questions will be lovingly answered.
